Felix Rawlinson, Phd student

Felix graduated from Dartmouth College where his honours thesis was focused on testing a potential novel Alzheimer’s drug in mice. Building on his interest in medical research, he completed an MSc in Genomic Medicine at the University of Oxford. There, Felix gene edited iPSCs and cardiomyocytes to characterise the mechanism of a previously unknown pathogenic hypertrophic cardiomyopathy mutation.

Now completing his PhD in Stem Cell Biology at the Sinha lab, Felix’s research is focused on Marfan Syndrome. By performing various experiments on SMCs differentiated from patient-derived iPSCs, Felix is trying to discover novel personalised medicine approaches for individuals suffering from the connective tissue disease.

Outside the lab, Felix is a keen rower who has competed 7 times for Great Britain and took part in the 2024 Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race for Oxford. He hopes to win the Boat Race for Cambridge whilst completing his PhD. He also grew up on a farm and loves looking after his chickens and sheep.
